Bonjour, So its been a month since Disney ...
Thanks to everyone who took the time to look at my recent blog posts, I really appreciated it but on wards and upwards as promised here is a quick snappy non waffling blog post about my trip to Disney a few weeks ago.
We stayed in one of the Disney Hotels right by the park, we had chosen Hotel New York as me and my best friend love New York and with going there last year we thought why not and it happened to be closest to the park with a walk of 5 minuets. It was rather funny cause we had someone bring our bags up to our room which I've never had done before.
I'd give the hotel a 8/10 as it was overall a really nice stay, the breakfast that was included was lovely a full range of things available to have so there is something for everyone. The overall look of the hotel was really nice well presented and had a lovely atmosphere.
There are two parks at Disneyland Paris the first one being the main Disney Park and then the later added on Walt Disney Studios. Both these parks are really big with plenty of rides, shops, places to eat and things to do.
The Disney Park being the main park is split in to 4 sub sections with the iconic Sleeping Beauty Castle right in the center of the park. Main Street USA is where you walk as you enter the park and walk towards the castle. This is pretty much shops and a few places to grab a bite to eat.
The parks 4 sections are Fantasyland, Adventureland, Frontierland and Discoveryland. Each of these different parks have a variety of things to do and see and places to eat. I wouldn't say I have a favourite land but I do have a few rides which I did enjoy.
Peter Pans flight, Space Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean Ride and Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast were a few of the rides we did a second time but I will tell you now "Its A Small World" is worth doing but it is annoying and creepy and the song oh god that will be stuck in your head all day.
Walt Disney Studios came after the Disney Park and is amazing so many of the best rides are located in this park, it isn't split in to sections but there are more interactive shows and performance here which are all free which is a bonus.
Toystory Playland is a must do, it basically is what it says an section of the park dedicated to Toy Story. In this section there is 3 rides and a lot of photo opportunity's.
The parachute drop is based on the toy soldiers in the films, your basically lifted to the top of these wires and dropped about 4 times, the ride lasts less that 5mins but the most annoying this is it takes longer to load and unload the ride than it takes once on it.
The RC ride is a small roller coaster which basically goes back and forth up a pieces of curved track, getting higher each time until at the top. You are riding in RC at the time as well it is brilliant. There is also a slinky ride which just goes around and around in a circle.
Other rides in this park which are a must do are ...
Crush Coaster base on Finding Nemo which was the longest que time ever for 75mins at a time although once in the line it moves swiftly. Your sat in pairs of 2 one facing forwards and one facing backwards and it spins around once moving kind of like mouse trap at the local fairs that come to your town is the best way to describe it.
Tower Of Terror is one of the most amazing rides ever, its set in an old skool hotel and is set behind a story regarding the lifts and service elevators. The most creepiest thing about it is that its all in French so it makes it more scarier as you actually don't know what they're saying.
I'm not going to say anymore as I don't want to spoil the surprise.
Rock n Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith is an inside loops and turns roller coaster which is done to the sound of music. Its all in the dark with flashing lights and effects and in the restraint of your seat is Aerosmith Music playing as you ride. Its absolutely brilliant we did this for a 2nd time.
Disney Village well where to begin it has everything you could ever need, places to eat and shop what more could you want. Its a quirky little area which has the main restaurants including Starbucks and Mcdonalds. This is where you would go to do your main shopping, there is shops within the Disney Parks themselves but the main shops are located here. The best shop of all is the recently opened "World Of Disney" which has literally everything you could ask for!!!
We weren't lucky enough to get to go in the new Lego shop opening up as it was opening a few weeks after we had left which is a shame because it looked amazing.
Ok so there is loads of places to eat in Disney so don't worry about being stuck for choice at all. We ate in 4 of the different restaurants in the Disney Village which is where the main ones are but there are other places to eat dotted around both parks. We ate in Annetts Dinner, Rainforset Cafe, Cafe Mickey (Highly Recommended, see other blog) and in Planet Hollywood. They all do similar food but with they're own twist.
As for snacks I recommend the Cable Car Bake Shop, they do the best chocolate cake I have ever tasted. Its called Mums Chocolate Cake and it looks a little dry from the outside but once you have taken a bite it is so moist and delicious you will want more (I did go back for another slice hehe)
We meet a fair few people in Disney although I would have liked to have met more if I'm honest just the only problem is they didn't seem to que over there so meant you would be waiting and someone would push in. Also it seemed that it was the same people about the whole time and then the following week looking online more people had come out once we left which was a tad annoying.
We managed to meet Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Buzz Lightyear, Eeyore, Tigger, Captain Hook, Smea, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, The Queen of Hearts and Chip n Dale. There was a few other meet n greet opportunities but we didn't do them like meeting the princess which I now wish I had done ... Maybe next time ;)
On our last day in Disney it was quiet eventful as it seemed every ride we attempted to go on broke down. First of all we got in the que for Tower of Terror and was told one of the lifts had broken down so we decided to go to the Areo Smith roller coaster which was working at the time but once in the line there was an announcement saying it had broken down but would be working shortly. The line was then closed and we overheard people were stuck but 15mins later the ride re opened. Just after we had our turn on the ride it broke down again so we were lucky that we weren't mid ride. Phew that would have been my biggest nightmare.
Then going back to Tower of Terror now 2 out of 3 lifts were closed due to faults which is a bit worrying especially when its your turn they send you to one of the ones that was broken down. Not our luck that day really as the Run away train kept breaking down the only one we hadn't done yet qued for 30 mins to be told we had to leave the que not pleased at all other than that ride we managed to do all of the ones which weren't closed so feel quiet please :D
